Before We Give Meaning to Experience
it is just energy
Kenneth Kron shared the following reflection in response to Richard Moon's post on Aikido and the evolution of consciousness.
Before we give meaning to experience — it is just energy. I see so many 'problems' that start as believing the label, like 'the map is the territory' when it's not.
This is one of the core teachings in Quantum Aikido, stated with unusual precision. Most of what we call a "problem" is not the raw situation — it is the label we've already applied to it before we've even fully arrived in the moment.
The map is not the territory. The word "attack" is not the attack. The feeling we label "anger" or "threat" exists first as undifferentiated energy, moving through the body, before we name it and respond to the name rather than the thing itself.
In Aikido training, one of the subtlest skills is learning to meet what is actually arriving rather than the mental category you've already placed it in. You see a strike coming and your conditioning fires — "this is a threat, resist." But if you can stay in the space just before the label, you can blend, redirect, resolve. The label closes options. The energy, received cleanly, opens them.
This is also what WIGO — What Is Really Going On — is pointing at. Not "what story am I telling about this?" but the actual energetic reality of what's present, before the interpretive overlay lands.
Kenneth's observation about problems is exactly right: when we treat the label as real and primary, the problem becomes fixed. When we meet the underlying energy directly, movement is possible.
The Practice
The invitation is simple but not easy: in the moment before you respond to a difficulty, pause long enough to ask — what is the actual energy here, before I name it? That pause — the Quantum Pause — is where the work happens.
